Maia Boakye is an undergraduate student studying in Canada to receive her Bachelor of Arts. Her graphic artwork centers around her personal experience as a queer biracial woman. Through colorful, contemporary visuals, she attempts to break the stiff mold of a female artist while challenging herself to experiment with different styles and media. Inspired on the interactions between people and their environments, she creates whimsical illustrations and writes poems in hopes that they will resonate with young women also struggling with their identities.
